Choosing your plunge
Which chiller should I get?
It depends on the size of your tub and where it will be. The 0.8 HP chiller is designed for plunges up to 135 gallons and the 1.0 HP for up to 150 gallons. Outdoors or in warm climates the chiller has to work against the outside heat, so the more powerful option is the safer choice. Not sure? Tell us which tub you have and your local climate and we'll recommend the right chiller.
How cold does the water get?
The chillers can be set from 37°F to 85°F. Cooling takes roughly 1–3°F every 20 minutes, depending on the outdoor temperature and the amount of water. The chiller self-regulates and only runs when needed.
Can it heat the water too?
Yes, mildly. The Dynamic chillers have a heat function up to 85°F – enough to take the chill off, but not a hot soak. If you want a warm soak up to 108°F in the same tub, take a look at the Orivon Frost.
Do the tubs have a liner?
Yes. The tubs are lined with a rugged, low-VOC, non-slip liner that is comfortable and protects the tub from corrosion and rust.
Can I put my plunge outdoors?
Yes – the plunges and chillers are rated for indoor and covered outdoor use. Outdoors we strongly recommend a chiller protector and a cover. Please note that Dynamic plunges are designed as three-season products – they are not built for sub-freezing winter use. In freezing temperatures, drain the tub or move it indoors.
Do I need a cover?
We highly recommend one. It keeps debris out and helps the chiller work less. If the tub stands in direct sunlight, a wood cover is the best choice.
Does it need a waterproof floor?
We recommend it. The plunges create quite a lot of condensation, so if you place yours indoors on a non-waterproof floor, use a lipped condensation mat underneath.
Electricity, setup & maintenance
How much electricity does it use?
All chillers run on a standard 120V outlet. Typical working current:
- 1/4 HP – 3 A
- 1/2 HP – 4.4 A
- 1 HP – 8 A
- 1.5 HP – 10 A
For comparison, a mini fridge draws about 3 A. Always use a grounded, GFCI-protected outlet.
Can I control it from my phone?
Yes. The chillers connect to a Wi-Fi app where you can adjust the temperature, set schedules and monitor the system from anywhere.
How do I assemble it?
The pump, filter and chiller connect with quick-connect fittings that pop on and off in seconds – no plumber needed. This also makes it easy to move, drain or clean the plunge, and replacement parts simply clip in.
How do I fill and drain it?
With a standard garden hose. The drain fitting accepts a hose, so you can fill and drain from the same spot. Draining works by gravity; an optional drain pump can move the water up to 100 ft away – handy for basements.
What filtration does it use?
The chillers have a built-in filter, strainer and ozone. The filter cartridges remove dirt, sand and other particles – replace them every 2–4 weeks depending on use.
What is ozone sanitation?
The built-in ozone helps sanitize the water and break down impurities. For it to work well you still need to keep the water's pH and alkalinity balanced.

Cold plunging basics
What water temperature is best?
Water below about 58°F is generally considered cold plunging temperature. Most people start around 50–59°F and go colder as they get used to it.
How long should I stay in?
Many people plunge for 1–3 minutes. Start short and listen to your body.
Should I plunge before or after a workout?
Both are popular. A plunge before training gives an energizing wake-up. If your goal is building muscle, many people wait a few hours after strength training before plunging.
Morning or evening?
Either works. Many people find a morning plunge energizing and an evening plunge relaxing.
Is cold plunging safe for everyone?
Cold water immersion is not for everyone. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, are pregnant or have any other health concern, talk to your doctor first. Never plunge alone or under the influence of alcohol, and always supervise children.
