Cedar cold plunge tubs
What temperature should a cold plunge be?
Most people plunge between 50°F and 59°F (10–15°C). Experienced plungers often go colder – with an optional chiller the water can be cooled down to about 37°F.
Do the tubs require plumbing?
No. Fill the tub with a garden hose and empty it through the built-in floor drain. The optional chiller is a self-contained unit that connects directly to the tub – no permanent plumbing needed.
Do I need a chiller?
No, but it makes daily plunging much easier. Without a chiller you can use cold tap water or ice. With a chiller the water stays cold, filtered and ready to use every day.
Can I use the tub outdoors in winter?
Yes. LeisureCraft tubs are made from cedar, which naturally handles moisture and temperature changes well. An insulated cover helps keep the water temperature stable. When it is freezing (32°F / 0°C or below), either drain the tub or keep the chiller running so the water doesn't freeze.
Why cedar?
Cedar is naturally resistant to moisture, rot and insects, holds temperature well and gives the tub its warm, natural look and scent.
What is contrast therapy?
Contrast therapy means alternating between heat and cold – typically a sauna session followed by a cold plunge. Many owners combine a cold plunge with a sauna or hot tub as a daily recovery routine.
Starlight wood-fired hot tub
How long does it take to heat up?
The Starlight typically reaches soaking temperature in under 3 hours. The exact time depends on the starting water temperature and outdoor conditions.
Do I need electricity?
No. The Starlight is heated by an internal wood-burning stove and is completely off-grid – no pumps, no electrical hookup and no running costs beyond firewood.
Is the stove safe to sit next to?
The heater sits inside the tub and heats the water directly. It is shielded with stainless steel, so bathers don't come into contact with hot surfaces. Always follow the safety instructions and never leave a fire unattended.
How do I maintain the water?
Most owners fill the tub, use it a few times, then drain and refill. The floor drain connects to a standard garden hose, so water changes are easy. An insulated cover keeps debris out and warmth in between sessions.

Cold water immersion is not for everyone. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, are pregnant or have any other health concern, talk to your doctor first. Never plunge alone or under the influence of alcohol, and always supervise children.
