If you are shopping for a home cold plunge in the $5,000–$11,000 range, two very different designs keep coming up: the Orivon Frost, an all-in-one acrylic tub that cools down to 37°F and heats up to a warm 108°F soak, and the Dynamic Cold Therapy Cuboid, a cedar-clad plunge with a stainless-steel or PVC interior and a separate chiller.

Both are good choices – for different people. Below we compare them on the things that actually matter when you live with a plunge every day.

Short answer:

  • Choose the Orivon Frost if you want a real warm soak (up to 108°F) as well as a cold plunge in one unit, a complete plug-and-play system and the lowest all-in price.
  • Choose the Dynamic Cuboid Steel if you mainly want cold water and prefer a stainless-steel interior, a natural cedar look, Wi-Fi app control and faster shipping.

1. Price: the Frost is the cheaper complete system

At first glance the Dynamic Cuboid looks cheaper – $5,499 for the steel tub. But that price is without a chiller. Without one you are back to buying bags of ice or using tap water, which is rarely cold enough. Once you add a chiller, the Cuboid Steel costs $10,399–$10,899.

The Frost costs $8,999 with the 1 HP chiller already built in. If you compare complete systems, the Frost is roughly $1,400–$1,900 less.

The Cuboid does have one cost advantage: because the chiller is separate, you can start with the tub only and add a chiller later, or replace just the chiller if it ever fails.

2. Warm soak vs. mild heat

Both systems can cool the water to 37°F – the big difference is at the warm end.

The Frost heats up to 108°F, so the same tub works as an ice-cold plunge in the morning and a genuinely warm soak in the evening. That is useful if you want contrast therapy without buying a separate hot tub, or if other people in your household prefer warm water.

The Dynamic chillers also have a heat function, but only up to 85°F. That is enough to take the chill off or keep the water mild, but it is not a hot soak. If you mainly want cold plunging, 85°F is plenty.

3. Materials: acrylic vs. stainless steel

Acrylic (Frost) is smooth and non-porous, resists stains and odors and is easy to wipe clean. It gives the Frost its sleek, bathtub-like look – it looks more like a piece of modern furniture than gym equipment.

304 stainless steel (Cuboid Steel) is the same grade used in commercial kitchens. It is extremely durable, does not absorb odors and is very hygienic for daily use. Combined with the cedar exterior it has a natural, Nordic look, and it comes with a cedar step and a cover with child safety latches. If you want a lower price, the standard Cuboid has a PVC interior instead of steel ($4,999 tub only).

4. Setup and everyday use

The Frost is genuinely plug-and-play: place it, fill it, plug it in and set the temperature. There is nothing to connect.

The Cuboid needs the chiller connected to the tub, but Dynamic uses quick-connect fittings, so it takes minutes, not a plumber. In return you get Wi-Fi app control – you can set the temperature before you even walk outside – plus built-in filtration and ozone sanitation. The chiller cools roughly 1–3°F every 20 minutes, depending on the outdoor temperature and water volume. Both tubs fill and drain with a standard garden hose.

5. Outdoor use and winter

Both can go outdoors, and both should have a cover to keep debris and sun out. The Dynamic plunges are rated for indoor and covered outdoor use and designed as three-season products: in sub-freezing weather you should drain the tub or keep it in a protected space, and an outdoor chiller should be shielded from the elements. If you live somewhere with hard winters and want to plunge outside all year, talk to us before you order and we will help you plan the setup.

6. Delivery and returns

This is where the Dynamic has a clear advantage. Dynamic plunges ship from a US warehouse in about 2 business days and the freight carrier calls you to schedule delivery. The Frost ships from the manufacturer with an estimated delivery time of 18–65 business days – if you need your plunge by a certain date, ask us for the current lead time before ordering.

Returns also differ: the Frost can only be returned if it is defective, while Dynamic accepts change-of-mind returns within 30 days with a 20% restocking fee. Damaged or defective products are covered for both. See our Returns & Refunds page for details.

Frequently asked questions

Can the Dynamic Cuboid heat the water?
Yes, but only mildly. The Dynamic chillers have a heat function up to 85°F. For a warm soak up to 108°F, choose the Orivon Frost.

Is the Dynamic Cuboid cheaper than the Frost?
Only without a chiller. With a chiller included, the Cuboid Steel costs $10,399–$10,899 versus $8,999 for the Frost.

Which one is better for tall people?
The Cuboid XL is 55" long, the standard Cuboid 50". The Frost is 77" long on the outside. If you are over 6'2", contact us and we'll help you compare the usable interior space.

Do I need a special outlet?
Neither needs a dedicated hard-wired installation. Both run from a standard outlet; always use a grounded, GFCI-protected circuit.

Is cold plunging safe for everyone?
Not for everyone. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, are pregnant or have other health concerns, talk to your doctor first, and never plunge alone.
